TREVON polypropylene staple fibre
Short polypropylene fibres for makers of nonwovens, geotextiles, hygiene products and car parts. In concrete they are added directly.

- 1Crimp: the curls hold fibres together
Looks like cotton wool. In fact the basis of other products.
Staple fibre is short fibres cut to an exact length. They are light, almost non-absorbent and resistant to chemicals and abrasion. Customers turn them into nonwovens in their factories, and those into further products.

How TREVON is made
- 1
Polypropylene granulate is dosed automatically into the extruder.
- 2
In the screw extruder it is melted and homogenised.
- 3
The melt passes through spinnerets: one block can hold several tens of thousands of holes.
- 4
A spin finish is applied to the fibres to ease further processing.
- 5
Between two sets of rollers the fibre is drawn in steam, which gives it strength.
- 6
In the stuffer box (crimper) the fibres are crimped so they hold together better.
- 7
Heat setting makes sure the fibre keeps its properties.
- 8
The cutter cuts the fibre to an exact length, from 4 to 120 mm.
- 9
Finished staple fibre is pressed into bales of roughly 220–240 kg.

Where you find TREVON
In cars
In door and roof padding, the boot, the rear parcel shelf, floor mats and noise and heat insulation. The fibre must resist abrasion and UV light, have reduced flammability and low fogging so it does not mist the windows. Parts made of the same material are easy to recycle.
Suitable types: Geo, Geo V, Geo W, TPS

- 5Floor mats
- 6Noise insulation
Under roads and in the landscape
Geotextile reinforces the subgrade of roads, paths and sports grounds, stabilises slopes and banks, protects soil against erosion and drains water. The fibre in it carries loads, filters and keeps soil layers from mixing.
Suitable types: Geo, Geo V, Geo W

- 1Geotextile
- 2Slope and subgrade
In hygiene and healthcare
In baby nappies, surgical masks and gowns, plasters and bandages, disposable wipes and feminine hygiene products. The fibre is in direct contact with skin – it must be soft, breathable and hygienically safe.
Suitable types: TPS

- 1Soft top layer
In concrete
TREVON STAVON is added to concrete and mortar – at the batching plant or straight into the truck mixer. The fibres disperse in the mix and prevent shrinkage cracks. Dosage roughly 0.5–1.5 kg per m³.
Suitable types: STAVON

- 1STAVON fibres
- 2Stopped microcrack

- 1Functional layer
In yarn
Spun fibre becomes functional sportswear, filter and home textiles and carpets.
Suitable types: Bavlna, Bavlna V, Bavlna W

- 1Inner parts and padding
In footwear
High-shrinkage fibre is compacted into synthetic leather, padding and inner parts of shoes, bags and suitcases.
Suitable types: PKH
Fibre types
Bavlna, Bavlna V, Bavlna W
spinning
The fibres are spun into yarn.
Geo, Geo V, Geo W
needle-punched nonwovens (geotextiles, automotive)
Needles punch through the layer and form a web.
TPS
thermally bonded nonwovens (hygiene, automotive)
The fibres bond thermally at points.
PKH
high-shrinkage fibre for synthetic leather and footwear
When heated the fibre shrinks by about a third.
STAVON
for concrete and mortar
Straight short pieces without crimp disperse in the mix.
Cut lengths 30, 40, 50, 60, 75, 90 and 120 mm, STAVON 4, 8 and 12 mm. V means tenacity above 40 cN/tex, W above 45 cN/tex. We adapt parameters to the customer's requirements.
